Janet and Randy Mudd have created welcome shade in the back yard of their 1940s Hanford-era home in Richland. They feel fortunate that a previous owner raised the back corner of the yard with a retaining wall and good fill dirt so they're not struggling with the sand and rocks that plague so many Tri-Cities gardens. Their garden was on the 2007 Tri-Cities Garden Tour.
