Miller Garden July 22, 2008

Theresa and Lee Miller live several miles up a gravel road outside Winthrop in the Methow valley. Theresa says shes had as many as 75 mule deer in her yard during migration. The Miller home, which they designed and built, is surrounded by a wide mowed lawn which serves as a fire break from the sage-covered hills. Lavender is a passion expressed by a wide border around the patio. Their vegetables and fruit trees are surrounded by a strong high fence to keep the deer out, but everything else is wide open to the critters.
